However, over the past few seasons, Western table grape producers have had to weather turbulent industry conditions, marked by COVID logistics hangovers, climate events, labor constraints, continued shifts in consumer preferences, and intensifying intercontinental competition. Despite these challenges, experts are optimistic about the industry's prospects for 2023, viewing it as a year of strategic course correction. Research was conducted by the Hazel team to provide a top-line analysis of four key table grape industry leaders across the Americas — Chile and Peru in South America, and Mexico and the United States in North America.
Looking at historic and projected production, export, and import data over the 2020/21, 2021/22, and 2022/23 seasons, it's shown that LATAM countries like Peru and Chile had more upwards growth, whereas the U.S.A. and Mexico had more of an impact form COVID-19 and extreme weather. The graphic sought to show this visually, as well as highlight some of the key takeaways from each article. At the tail end of the graphic, tying in Hazel's flagship product into the insights above helped the Sales team to use the graphic as a tool in their meetings with potential customers.
